Coaching Philosophy
In the coaching profession, we can influence and affect the lives and character of young people. We can teach true values and the real meaning of a successful life. We can teach the proper mental attitude and the vital role it plays in the absorbing of knowledge and reaching maturity. We can teach the comprehensive understanding of definite goals and the development of successful attitudes. The crucible may be the field, the court, or the track; the ingredients B courage, honesty, self-confidence, determination, the will to win, but the inspiration must come from the one who leads. As coaches we must face the task of training and molding young men and women to meet the coming situations in life. We live in an era which requires strong sports programs more than ever. The values that can be learned in a strong athletic program, along with the discipline and forming of good work habits are of immeasurable importance. How an athlete handles the pressure-packed situations on the field of play will directly affect how he handles the situations awaiting him in a pressure-packed world. If an athlete can learn to handle the situation on the court, he will greatly increase his chances of dealing successfully with the pressures of everyday life.
